A bomb blast rocked the Iraqi capital on Thursday and left at least one civilian killed, a security source confirmed.
At least two others were wounded by the bombing.
Citing an
unnamed source, al-Ghad Press said that
the bombing had taken place
near a market in al-Taji district, north of Baghdad.
Security forces soon cordoned off the scene and launched an investigation into what is said to be another terrorist attack.
The
almost daily terrorist attacks across Iraq, especially in Baghdad, are
taking place weeks after Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared
“full liberation” of Iraq from the Islamic State (IS).
Iraqi
security forces continue facing challenges in completely removing the
jihadists from their hideouts, especially in the western province of
Anbar and northern Nineveh province.
The
United Nations Assistance Mission to Iraq (UNAMI) said in its monthly
report that a total of 115 Iraqi civilians were killed in January only
as a result of acts of terrorism, violence, and armed conflicts.
