How a ‘sex in the toilet’ insult led to a barmaid’s death

 A city court is handling a case in which a barmaid was allegedly beaten and later died after a fight with a colleague.
The suspect, Eunice Adhiambo, was charged with killing Irene Nyova on December 17, 2017 at a bar in the Saika area of Nairobi.

Police said the two colleagues were working on night shift and worked until 4am when customers left. 
 It is reported that Nyova sat at a table where she drunk alcohol with a customer.
Other workers, among them Adhimabo, are said to have cautioned Nyova against drinking as she was still on duty.
Police said that Nyova accused her colleagues of mistreating her in front of the male customer before the argument escalated. Nyova is said to have called Adhiambo illiterate and that she could not write customer bills. Stung, Adhiambo is said to have accused Nyova of having sex with men in a nearby toilet.
 The prosecution said that at some point, Adhiambo pushed a drunk Nyova who fell  on broken glasses cutting her buttocks. The injuries left Nyova beading profusely. She was rushed to hospital.
 She succumbed to her injuries hours later leading to the arrest of the accused.  Adhiambo denied the charge and was released on Sh300,000.
